✂️ Pinching

3x more flowers guaranteed
  • Chrysanthemum is a short-day plant: Flowering is triggered by nights longer than 13 hours — naturally occurring from September onwards in India. Do NOT keep near artificial lights at night (streetlights, room lights) — light pollution disrupts the flowering trigger, causing late or no flowering.
  • 3x pinching for bushy plants: Pinch growing tip at 15 cm, again at 25 cm, and again at 35 cm. Each pinch multiplies branches. Three pinches produce 8–12 flowering stems per plant vs 1–2 without pinching. Stop pinching by mid-August — later pinching delays flowering past Diwali.
  • Disbudding for large blooms: For exhibition-quality single large blooms — remove all side buds, leaving only the terminal bud on each stem. All plant energy concentrates into one spectacular flower per stem.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Most common reasons: (1) Light pollution — plant near streetlight ya room light ke paas hai toh short-day trigger nahi hota. Move to dark position at night. (2) Pinching too late — August ke baad pinch mat karo. (3) Too much nitrogen — September se high-P fertilizer use karo. (4) Wrong season — chrysanthemum October-February ka flower hai.
After flowering (January-February): flowers khatam hone ke baad stems ko 15-20 cm pe cut karo. Fertilizing band karo, watering reduce karo. March-April mein new basal shoots nikalenge — yahi next season ke plants hain. Cuttings le sakte ho (5-8 cm) June-July mein for new plants. With care, same plant 3-5 years tak chalta hai.
Cascade training: single stem ko downward angle pe train karo — bamboo stick se angled support. Har side shoot ko usi angle mein guide karo. Monthly pinching se bushy growth. Result: waterfall of flowers cascading down. Takes 4-6 months training. Flower show ka most impressive display format hai.
Stem cuttings: June-July best time. 8-10 cm tip cuttings, lower leaves remove, rooting hormone optional, moist cocopeat mein 2-3 weeks mein roots. Alternatively: basal shoots jo flowering ke baad nikalte hain — unhe separate karo with roots. Division bhi possible at repotting time.
