💧 Chrysanthemum Care — India Specific
- Chrysanthemum is a short-day plant: Flowering is triggered by nights longer than 13 hours — naturally occurring from September onwards in India. Do NOT keep near artificial lights at night (streetlights, room lights) — light pollution disrupts the flowering trigger, causing late or no flowering.
- 3x pinching for bushy plants: Pinch growing tip at 15 cm, again at 25 cm, and again at 35 cm. Each pinch multiplies branches. Three pinches produce 8–12 flowering stems per plant vs 1–2 without pinching. Stop pinching by mid-August — later pinching delays flowering past Diwali.
- Disbudding for large blooms: For exhibition-quality single large blooms — remove all side buds, leaving only the terminal bud on each stem. All plant energy concentrates into one spectacular flower per stem.
