The tracker calculates a live countdown, progress bar and status for each seed — Waiting (days remaining), Germinated (success) or Overdue (past expected date). All data saves automatically in your browser — works offline, no account needed. Mark seeds as germinated when they sprout, and filter by status.
The tracker includes a Germination Reference table on the left showing common germination times: Tomato 5–10 days, Chilli 7–14 days, Marigold 4–7 days, Cucumber 3–7 days, Coriander 7–10 days, Rose 14–28 days, Sunflower 5–10 days and more. Use the Quick Pick chips to auto-fill common seeds with typical germination days. For other seeds, check the seed packet or use 7 days as a starting estimate.
Overdue means more days have passed than the expected germination time. It does not always mean failure — many factors cause delayed germination: cold temperature slows germination (may add 3–7 days in winter), very dry or wet soil, seeds planted too deep, old seeds with lower viability. Check soil moisture first. If 2× the expected time has passed with no signs, the seeds likely failed — try re-sowing with fresh seeds.
Yes — data saves automatically to your browser's localStorage every time you add or update a seed. It persists between sessions. WARNING: If you clear your browser data, cookies or site data, the tracker data will be deleted. To prevent loss, use the Copy Report button to save a text copy of your data before clearing browser data. The tracker works offline after the first page load.
Yes — you can add multiple entries for the same plant with different sowing dates. For example, add Tomato on March 1, then add another Tomato on March 15 for a second batch. Each gets its own independent countdown and progress bar. This is useful for succession planting where you sow in batches 2–3 weeks apart for continuous harvest throughout the season.
Four methods: In Pot (🪴) — directly sow in final pot, standard method for most plants. Tray (🫙) — sow in seedling tray, transplant when 3–4 leaves appear, better for space efficiency. Direct Sow (🌱) — sow directly in ground/raised bed, best for root vegetables like Carrot, Radish that dislike transplanting. Paper Towel (📄) — germinate between moist paper towels, useful for testing seed viability before committing to pots.
