Bird of Paradise Flower (Strelitzia reginae) — focusing on its extraordinary floral display — produces one of the most recognizable and dramatic flowers in the plant kingdom. The flower emerges from a boat-shaped green spathe, with vivid orange sepals and brilliant blue petals arranged to mimic the head of a tropical bird in flight. Each flower on a stem lasts 2-3 weeks and successive flowers on the same spathe continue opening for months. As a cut flower, Bird of Paradise is one of the most premium and long-lasting options available in India — used extensively in high-end floral arrangements, hotel lobbies and luxury events where dramatic, exotic flowers are required.

💧 Growing for Cut Flowers — India Guide
- Cut at the right stage: Harvest cut flowers when first orange sepal just begins to emerge from spathe. Do not cut when spathe is still fully closed — flowers may not open fully in vase. Cut with long stem (60-90 cm) at angle, immediately in water.
- Reviving stuck flowers: Sometimes individual flowers appear stuck inside the spathe in a vase. Gently reach into the spathe with two fingers and carefully pull the folded flower out — it will open fully within hours. This is normal and does not damage the remaining flowers in the spathe.
